Fr. Binoj Mulavarickal
Reverend Father Binoj Mulavarickal, a paragon of piety and passion, was born in the year 1981 as the third son among four brothers to Mr. Thomas Mulavarickal and Ms. Mary at Thabore Mooleppara. He was baptized in the revered name of St. Antony, whose feast day is celebrated on June 13th. From a tender age, Father Binoj demonstrated a profound interest in the Holy Mass and altar service, inspired by the exemplary devotion of his parents. He excelled in his academic pursuits while nurturing a deep passion for singing.
As he discerned his vocation, Father Binoj joined the Thrikkakara Minor Seminary and later the Vadavathoor Major Seminary. Upon completing his seminary studies, he was ordained to the priesthood on December 28, 2009, by the venerable Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath. Father Binoj furthered his education, earning a doctorate in Moral Theology from the esteemed Collegio Maria Mater Ecclesiae in Rome. During his academic tenure, he was entrusted with the significant role of Syro Malabar Youth Apostolate Director.
In response to the growing spiritual needs of the Kerala diaspora in Malta, Mar Stephen Chirappanath entrusted Father Binoj with the pastoral care of the community in 2016. Initially, he would visit Malta monthly to administer the sacraments, later increasing his visits to weekly. With unwavering dedication, Father Binoj has worked tirelessly to nurture the spiritual growth of the youth, establishing a unit of the Syro Malabar Youth Movement (SMYM), the largest youth organization within the Syro Malabar Church.
As a gifted singer and composer, Father Binoj's melodious hymns have enriched the spiritual lives of countless faithful. Currently, he serves the Church as the Spiritual Director/Priest-in-charge of the St. Thomas Syro Malabar Community in Malta. The community remains eternally grateful for his selfless service, and we pray that the Lord will continue to bless him abundantly, that through his ministry, many souls may be saved in the name of Jesus Christ.
Fr. Mathew Varuvellil
Fr. Mathew Varuvellil was born on March 14, 1980, in Varuvellil, as the son of Jacob and Philomina His hometown is Karikattur. After completing his school education, he joined the seminary with great enthusiasm to pursue his priestly vocation. Upon completing his studies, he was ordained as a priest on January 1, 2009, and celebrated his First Holy Qurbana.
His first appointment was as Assistant Vicar in Edathua. After serving for two years, he moved to Irekunnam for a year. Later, he served as Assistant Director and Director of KCSL at the Changancherry Diocesan Center and as the Boarding Director of SB School.
Before being assigned to Malta, he served as Vicar in Arunootumpadam in Kainakari, Keshavadasapuram in Thiruvananthapuram and Kulathoor for nearly two years, awaiting his visa application. He arrived in Malta in 2019, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the pandemic subsided, Fr. Mathew made every effort to revive the spiritual fervor of the faithful. Considering the unique circumstances and limitations of the local community, he willingly offered to celebrate as many Holy Qurbana as possible, ensuring the convenience of the faithful.
Fr. Mathew is deeply committed to his pastoral duties, including administering sacraments, visiting the sick, and engaging in devotional activities. His dedication to his flock is evident in his selfless service.
